Plants
Get ready to grow! In our plant unit, we will be making mini-gardens in egg cartons and planting 10 to 12 different types of plants.
We will learn about the job that each plant part does (flower, stem, root, and leaf). We will also classify plants into groups based on their characteristics. Then, we will take a look at how some plants developed certain characteristics (thorns and poison) to help them survive. GOALS:
-Describe the function of the following plant parts: flower, stem, root, leaf (L.OL.03.31) -Classify plants on the basis of observable physical characteristics: roots, leaves, steams, and flowers (L.OL.03.41) -Relate characterisitics and functions of observable parts in a variety of plants that allow them to live in their environment: leaf shape, thorns, odor, color (L.EV.03.11) |
