Surviving Extinction
There are a lot of things out there trying to kill plants. Here are a few:
Fortunately, many plants have ways to protect themselves. Some have thorns or are poisonous, so that animals won't want to eat them. Some have a waxy coating, like a cactus, that keep them from drying out in the sun by keeping the water inside. Other plants just create a LOT of seeds, so even though they die fast, they make a lot of new plants.
Do you know of a lot of plants that don't do anything to protect themselves or produce a lot of seeds?
Probably not. They are all extinct!
